This article presents the results of a survey on use digital avatars and agents in museums places cultural interest. The optimization virtual heritage domain is an interdisciplinary undertaking this paper investigates pertinent research solutions suggests ways forward. questions examined relate to (a) technological characteristics heritage-related uses users’ agents, patterns that emerge, (b) suggestions for future based article’s findings. We reviewed relevant publications analysed approaches presented identify trends issues could lead conclusions existing state field and, moreover, infer suggest directions. main findings trend toward onsite, sophisticated installations or applications with increasing investment mixed reality.
